Bill has over 30 years of experience in design, development and maintenance of mechatronic devices, primarily within the personal computer industry. In 1987 Mr. Forshey founded TechCare-TronLabs, a Kalamazoo, Michigan based firm, that provides maintenance and development services for computer and industrial electronic systems, as well as the design and prototyping of customized electronic devices for various clients.
Bill has worked with clients in North America, Japan, Britain and Argentina on a wide range of electronic and mechanical engineering projects, including: anthropomorphic robots for entertainment and education; automation controls for the printing and seed packaging industry; design, manufacturing and installation of gyro-stabilized broadcast and surveillance camera systems for use on helicopters and other aircraft; customized electromechanical devices to assist severely handicapped individuals; control and monitoring systems for municipal water systems; as well as a variety of sensor and embedded control systems.
Bill also sponsors various senior engineering design projects for Electrical Engineering, Industrial Manufacturing Engineering and Computer Science Engineering students at Western Michigan University. He serves as a task force advisor for the Electronics-Robotics Technology Career Pathway of the Kalamazoo Regional Education Service Agency’s Education For Employment program.
Bill enjoys designing and building robots using his well equipped machine shop and electronics lab. He also mentors a local high school's FIRST Robotics team #1677.
